I came across this comment referenced at JessieX's blog:

"Just a small little bit re ... the oft-repeated assumption that as Baby Boomers retire no one is around to replace them. Boomers numbered 64.6 million in 2005. GenX numbered 81 million in 2005. Millennials, 79.1 million."

She seems to be getting this from Strauss and Howe, and defines X from 1961-1981. Can anyone confirm her numbers? Stats may not matter in real terms, but it really changes the picture of Gen X as a bust generation.

The way to push Boomers aside of hands-on leadership and into their rightful (assuming they chose to accept the mission) role of moral elder leaders, is USE TECHNOLOGY. And not legacy, system-wide, zillion-dollar consultancy technology. Nope, use nimble Web 2.0, collaborative, transparency-loving technology.

Oh, and add in to the convo that "it's for the young adults ... they need it." Something like that. Just couch the need muchly in terms of Millennial need. They move out of the way faster then. :-) Try it.

I was thinking about the numbers being talked about here. I looked at some stats from the Bureau of Vital Statistics, added them up, and had a few thoughts...

The whole thing is a fairly recent creation anyhow.

Again with the faulty reply function! This should have gone with Patrick's comment toward the top.
